USA! USA!

It is forbidden to kill, therefore all murderers are punished unless they kill in large numbers and to the sound of trumpets. Voltaire

Fuck the US Army.

Moment

Ever thought 'and where in the hell was I..?' Swear to god I'm actually surprised that when these 2 touched, the universe didn't collapse in on itself due to some tear in the space-time continuum.

Liz Collini's work is great.

Pretty high on the list of things I don't understand

is 'skateboarding through fire'. Other than that, this is a really nice clip.

Dreaming

Eve Arnold

Thought I'd post up a nice image after choosing not to watch the Marilyn Monroe Doc last night. I'm of the opinion that private conversations should remain private so why broadcast them? Anyway - Eve Arnold has always been one of my favourite artists and you never need a reason to justify looking at MM.

Quote of the day

Men do change, and change comes like a little wind that ruffles the curtains at dawn, and it comes like the stealthy perfume of wildflowers hidden in the grass.  John Steinbeck

BDB*

While Isaac was perfecting his 'B-i-i-i-i-z  -  M-a-a-a-a-rk' technique (true story) I came across this clip which alongside Doug E Fresh doin' it to death, has the best Shante/Biz clip on the internet @3.03:

*(that's Boogie Down Bronx, for all you younguns)

Quote of the day

You are welcome to your intellectual pastimes and books and art and newspapers; welcome, too, to your bars and your whisky that only makes me ill. Here am I in the forest, quite content.

8" New Cross special, Wide Ventures, 53mm light blue Tapeworms, Gold Emerica hardware and brand new Powell Red's. I love silent bearings, they're one of life's simple pleasures.
Thanks to Fos and Jake for helping me get all this together.

This is pretty sweet, looking froward to March 8th. Pinched from Crossfire:

Jane Russell 1921 - 2011

She kind of turned into a Christian nutcase in later life - but was still crazy hot back in the day...

DY-NA-MITE

Watched this last night. Was mad funny even without smoking, er, you know...

Change is such hard work.

Billy Crystal

I’m not one of those hardcore Indy purists (yeah I think those actually exist), but when something becomes habit over time it does get harder to change your outlook on certain things. So it feels a bit odd that after 15 years of these:

...I’m going back to these.
Which is where I started in 1988 (after the usual mistakes and sidesteps of course – Gullwings/Tracker Ultra-lights... ahem).

Justification

Reasons for lazy YouTube posts: 1 - It's Friday and I can't skate.
2 - its my blog so whatever.
3 - the 'crazy wet with piss' line from Pigeon popped into my head while walking through Chinatown this morning - which you guessed it - always smells of piss (and for some reason, citrus).

NEW CHZ BLOG

So I have started a new blog of old photo's / images over at thechz.blogspot. Go have a look.
Go on.

Mag

Not that a magazine costing 13 quid needs any extra advertising, but Elephant is my new favourite publication. Website is pretty sweet too.

Daddy... why..?

This was the best explaination I could find, to a question asked by my TWO AND A HALF YEAR OLD son:
If the star is sufficiently massive, the collapsing core may become hot enough to support more exotic nuclear reactions that consume helium and produce a variety of heavier elements up to iron. However, such reactions offer only a temporary reprieve. Gradually, the star's internal nuclear fires become increasingly unstable - sometimes burning furiously, other times dying down. These variations cause the star to pulsate and throw off its outer layers, enshrouding itself in a cocoon of gas and dust. What happens next depends on the size of the core.

Stats for 2011 so far:

  • Number of fat around the middle – middle aged women reading Eat Pray Love in the hope it will somehow relive their loneliness: 345
  • Number of people in SuperDry clothing that they obviously got for Christmas: 1,400,000
  • Number of nicotine addicted fucktards walking in front of me at 8.30am, exhaling plumes of smoke into the air just as I yawn: 77
  • Number of morning bananas bought at Berwick St market: 20
  • Number of times I’ve fallen asleep on lunch while listening to Mogwai: 2

A work will only have deep resonance if the kind of darkness I can generate is something that is resident in me already.

(topical for once) Quote of the Day

The Bible tells us to be like God, and then on page after page it describes God as a mass murderer. This may be the single most important key to the political behavior of Western Civilization.  Robert Anton Wilson
